Glimpses: AN Interactive Exhibit
Glimpses is an ongoing series of small paintings on paper in which I depict fragments of people.
I am curious about the viewer’s interpretation of the figures and the narratives they may construct.
My interest in this grew during the Covid-19 pandemic, perhaps as a result of the isolation we all experienced, which gave room for our inner thoughts and imagination to grow.
I then created this interactive project to learn more about what other people may, or may not, see in the paintings.
I am curious to see the similarities and differences between viewers’ interpretations and seeing if their backgrounds affect their perception of the image.
My hope is to exhibit the Glimpses series in various geographical locations and that viewers will participate after seeing the paintings in person.
In this way I hope to gather answers from different people in different places.
In the participation process, the viewers are asked to answer a set of questions anonymously.
The first are about what they see in one of the paintings, the following questions are about themselves.
The grouping below, which is a portion of the Glimpses series, was shown at The Aquarium Gallery in Ann Arbor, MI, from 6/2 to 8/1 n 2021
